APERTURE Asia Pacific International Ethnographic Documentary Festival is an independent festival that aims to promote and support ethnographic documentary films (and photography) about the Asia Pacific region and filmmakers from this region. As the festival aspires to promote and educate about Asia Pacific cultures, contributing to mutual cultural understanding and connecting people from diverse cultural backgrounds, is open to the public with free admission.

The first edition was held in Melbourne at The University of Melbourne on the 21-23rd of November 2013.

You can read more and find information about the program and photos of the festival in APERTURE FESTIVAL website.

Future festivals could be held in major cities in the Asia Pacific region by rotation or continue in Australia, depending on sponsorships and partnerships. If you are interested to host a travelling APERTURE event or future editions, please get in touch with the Festival Director, Dr. Erminia Colucci.
